I am currently organising a Deaf Awareness Day jointly with members of Deaf Ex-Mainstreamers Group (DEX) and DEX Deaf Youth Council (DDYC). The event will be held inside the auditorium at Hepworth Gallery, Wakefield, West Yorkshire from 11am to 4.30pm. The purpose of the event will be to celebrate Deaf Awareness Week from 15th to 21st May 2017 and to raise awareness of issues daily faced by deaf people.

There will be many deaf exhibitors providing information on deaf awareness, deaf issues, deaf culture and an opportunity to learn basic British Sign Language. On display, there will be crafts, cards and art created by deaf artists. For children, there will be face painting, tombola and raffle. Visit Hepworth Gallery to view and admire its art, architecture and sculptures with amazing views of Calder River.

More information can be found on Eventbrite and you may wish to purchase your free ticket as an expression of interest. A BSL translation is available below.

Fun for all the family, why not come along and make a day of it?
