I am excited to announce we are holding a photographic exhibition at Stillingfleet Lodge Gardens by three Yorkshire photographers – Christine Carr, Sarah Kellett and myself, all members of Selby Camera Club.

Each of us visited the gardens during the month of April 2018, where we braved outside in various weather conditions – rain, sun and wind.

We all came up with our own creative and imaginative approaches from our observations in the gardens, producing a very diverse and aesthetic collection of photographs for display.

Below is a brief description of our photographic approaches and techniques we use in the post processing stage.

Christine enjoys creating an artistic style, which are influenced by impressionist painters and reflecting its scene as a whole. Her love of gardens and nature provides a base to work from. She likes to experiment with different effects to achieve the images she sees in her mind’s eye, rather than to present an exact record of what is seen.

Sarah grew up with a love of plants and flowers thanks to the many happy days spent at her family’s nurseries in Cawood. She now grows a variety of flowers in her own garden to enable her to photograph them at their best. She is particularly attracted to the delicate pastel shades and strives to make her images reminiscent of a watercolour painting rather than a true photographic image.

As for myself, I particularly enjoy macro photography and like to capture the minute and intricate details of plants and flora in its simplistic form. I am always seeking out fresh perspectives and new angles in my photography, drawn by vibrant and bold colours. Post processing is kept to a minimum in my images to retain the originality of the subjects captured.

The exhibition is open throughout July 2018 from 1pm to 5pm.

This exhibition looks really nice in your photos. I wish that I could be there in person, but for the distance.
